Starting June 1, 2025, Uzbekistan will introduce a new fast-track residency program for foreign investors, commonly referred to as the “golden visa.” The initiative is part of a presidential decree signed on April 18 to promote entrepreneurship, boost exports, and enhance trade and industrial policy.

Under the new framework, foreign nationals and stateless individuals can obtain a five-year residence permit by investing $200,000. Immediate family members — including spouses, parents, and children — will be eligible for residency at a reduced threshold of $100,000.

This program complements Uzbekistan’s existing residency options tied to real estate investment. Since 2019, citizens of 109 countries have been eligible for residence permits when purchasing property valued between $100,000 and $400,000, depending on location. In 2022, the minimum real estate threshold in Tashkent was lowered to $300,000, and regulations were further relaxed to allow foreign property ownership in certain cases without requiring residency.

The launch of the golden visa scheme signals Uzbekistan’s continued efforts to attract foreign capital and create a more investor-friendly environment.
