Saudi company DataVolt is implementing a project to build a 12 MW data center on the premises of IT Park Uzbekistan in Tashkent. The project, valued at $150 million, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
According to Abhay Tiwari, Head of Strategic Projects at DataVolt, who spoke in an interview with Oʻzbekiston 24 TV channel, the new facility will become the first data center in Central Asia based on artificial intelligence technologies. It will receive the LEED Gold certification, confirming its compliance with international “green” standards.
Tiwari emphasized the strategic importance of the project, noting that it will strengthen Uzbekistan’s position as a regional data hub. “The center will help attract global technology giants such as Google, Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon,” he said.
According to DataVolt, the project will accelerate the development of the digital economy, create new jobs, and foster innovation and entrepreneurship, with the active involvement of local companies.
In the next stages, DataVolt plans to invest an additional $3 billion in Uzbekistan, expanding the total capacity of its data centers to 500 MW.
Earlier, DataVolt CEO Rajit Nanda announced plans to construct new, state-of-the-art data centers with a combined capacity of 210 MW in New Tashkent and Bukhara. The company is also working on a project to connect Uzbekistan to the submarine fiber-optic communication line running along the Caspian Sea seabed from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan.
